Filipino born Rhuigi Villasenor is here to make a statement. The owner and innovator behind the emerging luxury streetwear line, Rhude, Rhuigi is breaking into the industry in unconventional ways.

At age 11, Rhuigi moved to LA and began immersing himself in American culture. He would learn in short amount of time what music to enjoy, what clothes to wear and how to fit in. Upon graduating high school, Rhuigi took on an internship Shaun Sampson and pursue a career in fashion… for free. He wanted the experience. The opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to create a line for the people.

In 2013, Rhuigi ventured out on his own to create his own label; RHUDE apparel. As like many emerging designers, Rhuigi’s first designs didn’t necessarily sell. It was a flop. His t-shirts were priced at $150 and only had one sale in the first three months. However, Rhuigi never lost hope and he continued to believe in himself and invest in his brand.

It all changed when Kendrick Lamar was photographed wearing a custom bandana shirt (one of Rhuigi’s early staple designs) in 2012. In just 24 hours Rhuigi had $150,000 in orders for that same design.

Now, RHUDE apparel can be found on the shelves of Nordstrom, Barney’s, Fred Segal and hosted its own runway show during Paris Fashion Week for the first time in 2019. There's a lot to be said about Rhuigi, but one word sums it up perfectly; persistent. He never gave up on himself and his faith in what he believe to the be the next dope brand never wavered.

If you’re looking for American luxury apparel with a modern and edgy twist, check out RHUDE for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
