Founded by David Gentry, Diet Starts Monday is a streetwear brand that originated in Washington DC. Although the brand decided to close its DC store in late 2018, it has since shifted to selling its products through various digital platforms and pop-up locations in standalone venues + larger shops.

E-Commerce has played a significant role in how the brand shows up. For the most part, the brand chooses the location of its next pop-up based off of online sales. In addition, there’s a heightened level of spontaneity with every drop since the brand decided to go digital. Capsule collections are often released on Monday’s and only available for 24 hrs; making each release exclusive and leaving the customer feeling as though they’ve purchased something rare. This level of curiosity keeps consumers engaged and demand high.

Not only are drops exclusive, but pricing for Diet Starts Monday is very respectable (realistic if you ask me). With T-Shirts ranging from $65 to $90 and sweatshirt priced around $200, Gentry describes the DSM price point as “midlevel high fashion.” In a day and age where much of the “hyped” clothing labels of today have price points 3x higher, I respect Diet Stars Monday for maintaining a price that resonates with their consumer.

Even in the midst of their growing success, Diet Starts Monday continues to evolve their brand and introduce innovative ways to expand their line without abandoning their day one customer.
